Message Hey Ash,
In most cases we are on the same page.
I understand your points and we have been through all that :)
We are very careful with modifying the wastegate arm angles for the straightest shot.
We also tightened the preload at one point all the way to 20 PSI and the boost did not go any higher at all. We backed it back down to 15 native so he can run are crappy 91 pump fuel.
We went to quite a bit of trouble to try to squeeze more out of it because of the original map.
We have since that time tuned several sport 700 cars. Seb's has the highest numbers and makes them at the lowest PSI because his motor has the least restriction.
My car makes less power and makes more boost because I have more restrictive cams.
My car will hold 25 PSI, But the exhaust temps are too high at that level......
I also have 1mm oversize valves in mine.
I have switched between the Garrett wastegate actuators and the HKS and found no difference. In bench testing the two actuators the Garrett's actually have stronger springs.
From what I have seen it sure looks like the new Map is correct and it is the only thing that makes since after quite a bit of testing.
We have been doing this a long time and the things you mention are common to us.
I understand you feeling the need to share this knowledge as we see lots of shops not go the extra mile with the details.

Look forward to your results on Dee's car!
Best of Luck and keep up the great work!!
Greg
